Inspired by the beautiful textures of planets, I've worked on procedural materials named after each of them. Working procedurally with nodes may seem daunting for some, but for me it's all about experimentation and finding joy in the (sometimes) unexpected results.
Stills and Material Breakdown
Most of the materials here are a combination of two shaders mixed with a separate mask.
The textures that went into making 'Mercury' material.
Base color is comprised of 5 different textures mixed with several blending modes.
Combination of the base color with the roughness, bump and emission maps results in the primary shader.
