36days is a project that invites designers, illustrators and graphic artists to give their particular view on the signs from our alphabet. 36 days of restless creativity, in which participants are challenged to design a letter or number for each day, resulting in an overall view about the ability to represent the same sign from different perspectives.

A project that aims to create a space for creation around typography and its endless graphic possibilities.

36 Days of Type started as a personal project for graphic designers by Rafa Goicoechea and Nina Sans. They decided to challenge themselves to create something new and experiment every day. Since then, Nina and Rafa have inspired the world to push its creative boundaries. 36 Days of Type continues its expansion this tenth year by bringing in prominent designers to help judge the submissions. #36daysoftype

This typography series is inspired by the Op Art movement and it's prominent artists. Op Art works are known for their abstract nature, with many pieces created in black and white that give the viewer the impression of movement, hidden images, flashing and vibrating patterns, or of swelling or warping.

The series is a result of many years of participation in the 36 Days of Type challenge. This year's challenge was to incorporate color into the designs, which led to the use of vibrant and bold colours. The studio aimed to create daring color combinations, incorporating fluorescent colours while also balancing them with neutral colours such as grey.

To take the project a step further, the studio sought to add a unique touch by moving away from the computer. While the glyphs were created digitally, the studio printed the letters using primitive printing machines to create a warm and illustrative effect, adding an analog touch to the project.
