Generation Wealth
This film shines light on American greed and the need for money. We see highschoolers in LA saying that everything is about money and holding up 100 dollar bills. We see a child in a competition based on looks with full glam and makeup saying she just wants to be rich. The term “keeping up with the joneses” was used and I think is really important and the mindset many people had in this documentary. People said they had everything they needed and wanted but somehow still felt like it wasn’t enough. They were concerned about what their fellow peers or neighbors thought about their cars, houses, clothes, bodies, etc. We even see the photographer get lost in her work and start to not be able to be there for her own children as she was documenting all these other mothers doing the same thing. This documentary was interesting, but not really shocking to me at all because everyday we see things like this going on and I am almost used to it.
