It plays a crucial role in soil conservation, habitat biodiversity, and aquatic ecosystem health.
The relict habitat in this gallery persists as a remnant of what was once a diverse and widespread population, and an ecosystem which originally ranged over a large expanse, that now is narrowly confined.
