Samuele Montorfano's profile

Bignè di IGINIO MASSARI

The celebration of synergies, attitudes, passions and visions apparently different and related to worlds far apart: furniture and pastry-making have "met" creating a new project that enhances the Italian craftsmanship vision: "Let's make room for Sweetness"; here is the Bignè pouf, made of scented cedar of Lebanon, with upholstered seat, designed by Samuele Montorfano in collaboration with Master Pastry Chef Iginio Massari and produced by RIVA 1920.

A solid scented cedar wood pouf crafted from a single block, evoking the shape of pastry chef Iginio Massari's iconic Bignè (cream puff). The seat is made comfortable by the presence of a soft cushion in fabric.
CEDAR.
THE SECOND LIFE OF A
WOOD FAMOUS FOR ITS SCENT
Belonging to the genus Cedrus and to the Pinaceae family, the cedar of Lebanon is a conifer/evergreen also widely cultivated in Northern Italy although it is native to Lebanon and Syria. Its main feature concerns the possible extension in height, which can even reach 40 meters with a trunk that reaches even two and a half meters. The wood obtained from it is characterized by a strongly balsamic scent given off by the resin and is distinguished by its natural anti-moth effect.

DEPOSIT
Riva 1920 recovers cedar trees that have fallen as a result of natural events or that have been cut down due to programmed cuts, carried out for safety reasons. The majestic logs are stored in the large square in front of the production unit; what is striking is the heady scent that the cedar gives off in the air.
