The Beauty of Monotony

With this photo series of photographs I wanted to literally show my point of view. The point of view of a photographer who was not born here. When I arrived from Bogota, Colombia to St. Louis, MO, I could notice something different. When you travel and arrive in a new place, everything is fascinating, new, interesting, and curious. But when we live in a place for a long time we lose that fascination for what we see every day. I have had the opportunity to travel to different countries and I always find that feeling of wonder when seeing new things, different people, and different cultures. When taking these photographs, I wanted to show that beauty that lies behind what seems to us to be landscape and monotony. The people we see every day, the places we pass through every day, are moments that we only value when we stop seeing. Being far from my country, from my people, from my streets, I can see with different eyes what I did not see when I was there and that is what I want to show: The Beauty of Monotony.
