The brief for this project was to redesign the sixteen line RATP (Régie Autonome des Transports Parisiens) Paris Metro map to make it easier for users to navigate. The design began with the inspiration of the rose windows of Notre Dame Cathedral. Since Paris covers a region that is fairly circular in shape and the metro lines zig zag across the city covering over a hundred stations, the rose window seemed an appropriate reference. The complicated windows became streamlined concentric circles with radiating junctions. Additional signage for each metro line and metro stop, along with advertising for the RATP app were also created to show the potential for this concept to cover a multitude of applications. Pictograms were also created in the same clean style as the map and logo. The final product folds up into a convenient "put it in your back pocket" size and the imagery lends itself well to additional advertising and merchandise.
