Happy Eid Al Fitr
When I think of Eid al-Fitr, the first thing that comes to my mind is my mother's old kitchen in my childhood home, bathed in sunlight that gives it a warm feeling and memories of family. Egyptian sugar cookies sit on a plate like a king awaiting celebration, accompanied by two cups of hot tea with its peaceful steam rising, and the sun shining through the cup, giving the tea a red hue and the scent of mint wafting from it. Next to it, Next to them, my father's "Edya" awaited me and my sisters to wake up and give it to us. I happily see my reflection in the tea kettle as I enjoy the cookies with my family while watching the "Al-Ayall Kibrit" play on television. These happy memories bring back a feeling that I had lost long ago.
