KALA UDYANA - 2023
'Kala Udyana' is an annual craft bazaar hosted by NIFT Bengaluru (on behalf of the Ministry of Textiles, India) promoting artisans and handicrafts from all across the country. The project brief required us to create a visual identity for Kala Udyana keeping both print and digital deliverables in mind.

PROCESS
We started the project by building a hierarchy based on the importance of information .
Based on that order, a typography structure was created.
Initial Explorations included a variety of concepts playing around with patterns, typography and color

Iteration 2- Concept of using motifs from handicrafts as visual elements

THE FINAL DESIGN
After multiple iterations and concept revisions, we came up with the idea of creating a "Landscape of Art" - much like the name of the bazaar, using elements inspired from handicrafts. Each element in the scene was created manually- inspired from motifs of a variety of handicrafts like Blue pottery, Kasuti embroidery, Phulkari, Bidri etc
The goal was to incorporate elements from handicrafts to create a cohesive Banglorean environment using iconic architectural elements like the Vidhan Soudha, Bangalore Palace etc, not to mention the famous Trumpet trees. The Green-Yellow-Red color palette was chosen to give it a classic aesthetic with a contemporary surprise
