"Khorous-e Zari Pirhan" by Ahmad Shamlou

"I did the illustrations for this book in 1390 and it has an intelligent audio version."
Here's a translation of the Persian poem "Khorous-e Zari Pirhan" by Ahmad Shamlou:
The golden rooster in its fancy clothes
Was pecking at the seed in the courtyard.
sparrow hawk swooped down on it,
And snatched it up in its talons.
The rooster cried out, "What misfortune!
Why did fate allow me to fall into the hands of this cruel hawk?"
The hawk replied, "Your golden feathers caught my eye,
And I couldn't resist the urge to seize you."
The rooster said, "If you spare my life,
I will give you something even more valuable than my feathers."
The hawk asked, "What could be more valuable than gold?"
The rooster replied, "The gift of life, which is priceless."
The hawk was moved by the rooster's words,
And decided to spare its life.
The rooster flew away, its golden feathers shining in the sun,
And the hawk watched it go with a sense of regret.
Thus, the rooster in its fancy clothes
Escaped the jaws of death by its wits and wisdom,
And lived to see another day,
Thanks to its cleverness and its gift of gab.
