MVRDV
A design studio started by past members of MVRDV
MVRDV is a fictitious design firm formed by several departing members of the Dutch architectural firm MVRDV. The new firm had leased one floor of Metropolitan Park in the Denny Regrade area and my project was to design their new space.

I was presented with an organizational chart for some 93 positions plus planned growth of 15-20%. Based on MVRDV's passion for research and
user based design, the program grew out of my research on how designers utilize personal work space, shared space and design resources.

I began looking for strategies to integrate resources throughout the space. This included not only physical resources, but also personnel resources such as partners, administrators and project managers. I was firmly into the Design Development phase , pursuing the idea of information as the spine of the firm, when I began to utilize the theory of fluid dynamics to locate breakout rooms.

When asked what it would look like if I pursued this idea throughout the design, I came to understand that the concept was the right solution to embody my initial design strategies of cross-pollination, dispersed data and shared resources while creating a vibrant, yet flexible space.
