Ottomoka is an orientalized version of the Italian moka pot (patented by inventor Luigi De Ponti for Bialetti in 1933). It takes its form from the Turkish “ibrik”, a type of ewer, which was used in the Ottoman Empire for serving coffee.

It is said that coffee was discovered in Yemen,Arabia. It  spread  world  wide  and  for  many  cultures  coffee
became a tradition and special beverage. Especially in the Ottoman Empire coffee was a “must”. It was so  important  that  it  affected  even  the  language.  In Turkish, breakfast is said as “kahvealti” which means “under / before coffee”. As known, coffee has a great importance in the Italian culture as well. Ottomoka is a result of the combination of Italian design and Turkish traditions.
