Douglas Schneider's profile

30 Yrs of Non-Food or Beverage Packaging Illustrations

For over 30 years, Douglas Schneider has had a flourishing career painting realistic watercolor illustrations for packaging.  Earlier Behance project presentations featured packaging  illustrations for alcoholic beverages, non-alcoholic beverages, and food.  This presentation features packaging projects other than food and beverage, including personal care, health care, cleaning, lawn and gardening, and candles.

From 1998 through 2004 Douglas Schneider worked with Harold Effinger, the Creative Director for Alberto Culver, to paint packaging illustrations for St. Ive's personal care products.  During that time period Doug painted over 70 illustrations for three different brand redesigns.
After appreciating the illustrations from the St. Ive's packaging collection, Unilever, from 2002 through 2005, chose Douglas Schneider to paint over 60 illustrations for their Suave Naturals and Seasonals packaging.  Products included shampoos, conditioners, body washes, lotions, deodorants, and soaps.
Design studio, Glasfurd & Walker of Vancouver, BC, asked Douglas Schneider to illustrate botanical illustrations to be used on packaging for Australian cleaning supply company, Koala Eco.  The paintings needed to look like old fashioned botanical illustrations to help emphasize the natural and environmentally safe ingredients for their products.

Doug painted over 30 illustrations from 2016 through 2022.
In 2006, Leosons International hired Douglas Schneider to do watercolor illustrations of six flavors for N'ICE Lozenges for Coughs and Minor Sore Throat Pain.  The illustrations have lasted and are still used on their current packaging.
In 1998 Joed Design of Elmhurst, Illinois asked Douglas Schneider to paint six packaging illustrations for Ambria's Natural Elements candles.
From 2011 to 2019, Earth's Care Natural Products chose Doug Schneider to paint illustrations for over 20 products.  Crafted by experts, Earth's Care health and beauty products are formulated to bring relief for a variety of conditions including dry and damaged skin, joint and muscle pain, bruising, and many more.
In 2022, for part of their gardening product line, Blackwell and Sons, from New Zealand, chose Douglas Schneider's illustrations for their seed packet packaging. They used a combination of existing stock illustrations and new commissioned paintings.
In 2020, R. Bird & Company, of New York City, needed a new illustration for Safer Brand's Lawn Restorer packaging.  They asked Douglas Schneider to paint an illustration with the same concept as the original, but in his own realistic style.

The idea was to show an unhealthy, yellowed section of lawn with undeveloped roots on the left side of the illustration.  The right side would show green, lush growth with a well developed root system.
Rethink Studio, of Oslo, Norway, used existing and new illustrations from Douglas Schneider on packaging for COOP Norway's seed packets.
In 2022, Manufactur, from Los Angeles, chose existing stock images from Douglas Schneider for their client, Ambrosia.  Ambrosia makes linen refrigerator bags for fresh produce storage.
Douglas Schneider had two opportunities to work with Bath & Body Works.  In 1997, Doug painted illustrations for three of their personal care products: Fresh Lilac, Iced Pineapple, and Pink Lemonade.

Later in 2005, Beardwood & Co. of Brooklyn, NY, chose Doug to paint five more illustrations for B&BW's Savannah Bee collection: Tupelo Honey, Pecan, Mint, Clementine, and Orange.
