About Layla
Hi I am Layla and I am a Textile Designer specialising in print. As a designer, my practice is centred around creating a cultural atmosphere. I immerse myself in research to tell a narrative, by gathering material from museums, podcasts and books. This is a crucial part of my design process as it provides the necessary imagery to draw and informs me of relevant textile techniques. I draw and design using a combination of digital and hand drawn images, turning traditional imagery and techniques into modern day, escapist, designs. I aim at creating work that is layered and that has depth and reason behind every design.’
