A simple landing page (desktop and mobile ver.) designed for a HK local online shop that sell Japanese beauty and health products (hence the Chinese and Japanese characters, sorry!). Picked green as its main color because it symbolises health, nature and wellness, which are the main features of the store’s products. It also resonated well with the mission and goal of the company. I picked orange as the color of the CTA as it is very vibrant and this can help attract customer’s attention, any buttons that are related to shopping (e.g. adding to cart, checking the cart, browsing product catalog) are all colored in orange for that specific reason. 

 

Since all products are originated from Japan, it has become a necessary to reflect that nature in the design. This was reflected primarily on the design of the typography and the layout. In typography, some letters are shared among Chinese and Japanese, which means even Hong Kong/Chinese customers can understand them, such as the text displayed on some CTA buttons -  '買う' (to buy). A simple yet effective trick to make the customers feel like they are really browsing a Japanese originated store, or a store that really knows well of the Japanese language and culture. In layout design, the text are aligned vertically as noticed in many Japanese websites and not to mention, writing vertically is a tradition among Eastern Asian countries. Alongside with that, thin lines are used as decoration and it's a very common techniques in Japanese graphic design to make the overall design looks neat, clean, refreshing and importantly, looks 'Japanese'. 

 

As for the hero section, I took a more abstract approach by making a collage art of a beautiful young woman added with various other visual elements that I believed can help show that beauty altogether. Thanks to its versatility, this approach can later be developed as the brand’s key visual as well. Can’t wait to expand it further as the business develop!
