Unguarded Posture portrays the bridged connection between myself and God. In this work, I chose to depict the figure laying down with an open posture, this intentional pose portrays the vulnerable heart that I lay before God when I commune with Him.

Connecting with Christ comes naturally to me when I am outdoors surrounded by His beautiful creation. I mixed dried leaves into the gesso I created to meld the figure and ground together. This relationship is symbolic of how nature connects me with the Divine and how God sees right through my human form — He sees my authentic self. I used dark values paired with hazy blending effects to make this piece seem like a captured memory or moment. When I am in conversation with God, connected to His presence, the world dissolves around me and it is as if I am frozen in time.
