Llama - Urban Art Installation

Llama - Urban Art Installation

Featuring 6 different Llamas drawn with traditional decorations.  Drawing the Llamas was a lot of fun as well a challange.  Making sure each one was unique.  The three with the decorations was the biggest challange.  To make sure there was an enough difference in the texture, value & line work between their hair and decorations.  Over 400 Llamas were printed on A4 size paper, then cut out one by one.

During the installation the first step was to paint the bottom half.  This was painted to match South American textile colors and patterns.  Each bar of color was painted starting from the top.  Then a stencil was used to created the textile pattern of “weaving.”

After the bottom half was finished and painted, the pasting of the Llamas begun.  Starting from the left column, and from the top horizontal line.  Once the top line has been pasted, then each row gets pasted from left to right - all the way to the bottom.  The fun part is choosing which Llama to paste.  Repeated until all five columns are pasted and finished.
