Why Laziness Is A Good Thing

Laziness is a good thing!

Entire lives individuals get told, or more force fed statements like, “hard work is the only key to success,” or possibly even “you will never amount to anything if you don’t work hard for it.” While these statements are somewhat true, what if people were convinced they could be very successful and still be lazy at the same time? Being lazy doesn’t precisely mean not having to do anything; it just means people can find an easier way to do it so theydon’t have to work as hard. If an individual is lucky enough to be blessed with the gift of laziness, he or she should definitely enjoy it and exploit it. It is a quality to be coddled, nurtured, and developed. If the quality is correctlyutilized, laziness is a key to success.

The ideology, there are two kinds of laziness. The first kind of laziness is pure, simple, and wholesome. It is the quick and almost always impulse to avoid work. With this basic form of laziness, avoidance all work is its own prize. Nothing more needs to be accomplished. The second kind of laziness raises basic laziness to an even greater level, if you can believe such a thing could be possible. With this type of laziness, work is still avoided at all costs. Although, by skillfully avoiding work, even to the ultimate degree of doing nothing at all, one still accomplishes everything he or she wants. Now this is the supreme form of laziness. Doing nothing and still accomplishing everything.

Someone lazy is capable of greater delegation. Lazy people generally make really productive leaders. If a lazy person is placed as the person in charge of a group of people for a project, they know how to assign people to particular tasks based on their skills so the job can be done quickly and efficiently. It doesn’t make sense to have one person do everything or have everybody focus on one thing at a time. A lazy person usually has the gift of making sure this does not happen.

A lazy person will purposely avoid busy work. There is nothing that anyone absolutely hates more in the workplace than busy work. An unimportant meeting that has no purpose to a lazy characters particular job or task, or things that achieve nothing aside from taking up their time. This is time that could be spent actually getting the job done so you can get the heck out of there. A lazy personwould rather take the task they are assigned and get it done, get it done quickly, and get it done right, so they don’t have to spend any more time on it than absolutely necessary. Also, because you are lazy, getting a shortcut on doing a complex task is what you are best at. I found out that this is very useful for computer programming, where they are required to optimize codes, but by them using extensions, any problem that needs to be done as easily as possible, with as less energy as it can take can be done.

If someone is lazy, they must be clever in order to be effective. In a work environment, you can be two of four things: lazy or diligent, clever or stupid. But if you are clever and lazy, you’ll have a tendency to be the most efficient. This just means you can get more done while doing less work. Therefore being clever is one of the most necessary keys to being successful as a lazy person. They’ll always look for a quicker, more effective way of doing things. For example Bill Gates stated that he would always hire a lazy person to do a hard job at Microsoft; because they would always find an easier way to do it. Just because they are diligent and clever, most likely means they’regoing to be more efficient. So if one of those people who think that he or she is clever but lazy too then there is a good chance that they might end up with a promotion.

An individual with the trait of laziness has the ability to only focus on bare necessities and what is important in any given task. Lazy people tend to only focus on what is needed, rather than all of the extra details to get the job done. I’m not saying that there is anything wrong with going the extra mile every once in a while, but sometimes it can be too much and it’s just a wasted effort. Lazy people have an ability to figure out when is a good time and when it is pointless to do a little extra.

Some might say a lazy person is more efficient in handling a task. Sometimes it might seem that people are just plain being lazy, constantly scrolling their phones and whatever is on social media, however, while others are busy over working themselves. The reality of it is that they know how to get their job done faster and easier and simply just have the time to sit around. But with this logic, being stupid and hardworking is one of the most harmful combinations. Also while lazy people sit at a place and loiter, their minds are not being tasked to do anything anymore. They are thinking deeply about life itself. Laziness is a good way to introspect about life in general.

Procrastination has always been seen as a bad thing, but if someone is lazy and clever they know how to use procrastination to their advantage. Those who procrastinate and wait until the last minute have no choice but to focus on the job and get it done in time. Also while are aware and know that there is no room for error or issues to arise, so they’ll get the job done quickly and done well in less time than a diligent worker. Because of laziness, they leave some jobs to be done for the last minute. And because they’ve left the job for the last moment, when someone lazy sits down to do it, they do it with great intensity and concentration. And sometimes problems just take care ofthemselves even if they don’t intervene. It could just be the natural way things work, but this is one of the best advantages of procrastination and laziness.

So with all the benefits of being lazy, would you still say someone can’t be successful? Do you prefer all the effort of sweating and working your butt off to do the same job much longer than someone who can get it done much simpler? Can you now consider someone lazy as not a bad trait? Perhaps you can now see that person with a new perspective. Maybe now you can see that person as an innovator, an entrepreneur or, even just someone clever.
