Coexist - awakening to the world around us.
A 48ft long mural created for @metaopenarts. One of the most densely populated cities of the world - Mumbai, unexpectedly, paints a surreal landscape where rich ecosystems and astonishing biodiversity unravel itself between a densely packed and ever-growing metropolis.
Fragments of biodiverse habitats, home to a staggering range of wildlife and marine life continue to thrive in nestled pockets which the city has not managed to consume yet.
From surreal tide-pools that emerge in front of shimmering skylines to a wild forest in the heart of the city that’s home to a numerous amount of leopards, to migratory flamingoes that paint the sprawling grey city into vibrant hues of pink, to an ocean that glitters to bioluminescent plankton blues.
Through this 48ft long biodiversity map, we explore over 30 species from different habitats and ecosystems that are adapting and finding room to exist between Mumbai's ever-growing need to consume the remaining natural spaces left in the city.
Imagine the possibilities lie ahead for our cities if we for once, attempted to include these worlds as part of how we imagine our cities? Why are Natural and Urban Spaces designed as separate from one another when there is room for us to coexist.
