Using photography, I created emphasis and visual representation of the word 'Guts,' finding inspiration in a quote from Sagmeister: "Having guts always works out for me." 

The scene represents a butcher's table, but the props and main items are all sewing accessories. This choice was inspired by Stefan's 2008 book 'Things I Have Learned in My Life So Far.' The book featured complex typographic projects, featuring many hand-manipulated objects photographed 'out in the world.' My interpretation is much smaller in scale but utilizes hand-made items to represent words and message. I incorporated hand-drawn and loose lettering into the composition, pulling it together with dramatic lighting, gritty surfaces and props that support the hand-sewn guts.
