This is the thirty second title sequence I created for the French film Delicatessen(1991).

 

Delicatessen is a pitch-black comedy set in an apartment building in surreal, post-apocolypic France. The landlord runs a butcher shop on the ground floor, however food is a rarety and some have resorted to cannabilism.

 

The concept for my title sequence came from the fact that running water is an interesting reocurring motif throughout the film. One of the tenants intentianally floods his aparatment, turning it into a snail infested swamp. He eats the snails which is a direct reflection of what is happening in the rest of the apartment. The occupants are given a place to stay before being eaten.
