Concept Design Date: November 2021
Site Location: French Beach Karachi, Pakistan
Architect: Shahzad Brothers

The concept was to create an abstract art piece connecting with nautical elements, and connecting to the heritage of the fishing village. A unique design feature and bespoke suspension floating within the double height space visible from the main entrance door, creating a visible connection to the sea. There is a mix of positive and negative spaces within the art piece- the hollow openings create shadows.

Deconstructing an existing boat, the essence of the boat is retained by keeping the ribs of the structure with some openings created allowing light to pass through.

Asymmetrical composition with two boats allows to capture the volume of the space. Angles of suspension gives illusion of dynamic movement.
