Okgo X ILO: Against Women, For Women

Issue:
The majority of sweatshop workers are women who are female workers get paid very little but worked for hours and hours. People who are in these situations are usually stuck because their voice is not powerful enough to make a change. There is no welfare system to take care of them and sadly many labour laws are not reinforced.
With the high demand for fast fashion, the competition between brands is more vigorous over the years that leads to lower wages due to the increase of workers in sweatshops and needing to keep selling prices low for consumers.

Solution:
One of the ways to combat this is thrift culture which is essentially buying pre-loved clothes at a cheaper price and to resell or donate old clothes.

Since the owners of OKGO and cat lovers both, the model is a cat.

Brand + Organisation:
OKGO Store is a boutique thrift shop that stocks bundles of stylish vintage and pre-loved items in all sorts of colours and styles. They are inspired by Japan’s thrift shop scene and show it off with unique decor. ILO is the organisation that we chose as they focus on women's rights and labour.

Big Idea:
Since the majority of sweatshop workers are female and children, we came up with a friendly competition that would amount to the increase purchase of thrifted clothes and with that can decrease the demand for fast fashion. It is also great for the environment.
Women going against other women to get the best-thrifted item in order to help raise awareness and to help reduce female labour in sweatshops.
