This is my 13th week of my 52 week challenge to create an image a week with Cinema 4D as a way to learn this remarkable tool.
For this week's project, I used simple tools in Cinema 4D: a helix used in a Lathe generator. The lathe generator lets you work like a ceramic artist would do with potery. Instead of rotating clay, you rotate a spline about an axis and Cinema 4D generates the shape.
The rendering is done with Sketch and Toon, which gives a solution for resolution independent sketching of lines (in other words, you can render at higher resolutions, and the lines with use more pixels but will preserve the same physical size).
I have included a few phone background images at the end.
I use photoshop for final tweaking of the images, in particular to overlay a paper pattern. I use the paper patterns from subbtle patterns: groove paper and paper.
