Just some stills of behind the scenes of creating the explosion effect. Practical and CGI elements were shot and created at the Flux Design Labs' parking lot and office in Manila, Philippines. We were in a bit of a time crunch and we had 2 days to shoot the practicals. Since the whole body was going to explode we wanted to have chunks in the blood mixture. Our blood consisted of strawberry and blueberry jam, water and some flour. Which you can see I was mixing in the second image.
I wanted to make sure that when we shot the practicals it was in the same angle and close to the focal length as much as possible.  So we made a grid on the floor and made a grid in the computer that matched the camera and floor perspective of the footage.
Once aligned, we locked cam and we were ready to shoot.
We also made rocks out of brown paper bags to get real blood interations with the rocks.  Then we would just comp those on the rocks in the footage.
We made our rocks to match the rocks in the footage.
