EXCITING FRAGMENTS spatial installation / urban pop up space / urban intervention
Inspired by model kit frames and envisioned as life size model kit, Installation plays with the notion of real life as model kit, city as entity that everybody - citizens (including children and pets) and visitors could mold, create, influence.
It is an exciting experience that frames known space - square and presents it differently.
It offers new perspective, new understanding of possible, desirable and needed in public space.
Main elemements include benches, platforms to walk or sit on, have a conversation, enjoy the shade...
So people also become an integrated although ephemenral part of the installation, they fit in within wider picture, when going through and experiencing installation. Space is interactive, involving and inviting.
It invites us to take part, and think of public space, but also our personal choices and consumeristic culture, seen through abundance of parts and elements of everyday life goods. What do we really need and what do we acquire, pile, hoard, collect? What for? Humans surround themselves with things, as in cage, as in boxes.
This installation challenges all of these notions, and invites visitors to slow down and delve for hidden meanings.

axonometric view of installation proposal: in the left lower corner there is basis of existing monument that is incorporated into the installation. with addition of stairs and platforms for walking and sitting, it creates urban furniture and a place of gathering, new social and focal point. Another bench - this time with awning - is envisined in other corner of the square / installation, at the upper right area in this view. Again, it creates a corner to hang out and connect with each other.

Logroño International Festival of Architecture and Design
Concéntrico is the Logroño (Spain) International Festival of Architecture and Design that annually proposes to reflect on the urban environment and the city. The Festival invites visitors to tour the city through installations, exhibitions, meetings, activities and performances that create a connection between the venues, squares, streets, courtyards and hidden spaces that usually go unnoticed in their daily lives.
Since 2015, the eight editions of the festival have brought together more than 100 urban interventions created by teams of national and international architects and designers experimenting with new fields of environmental design. In this way, a dialogue is established between the city, heritage and contemporary architecture that activates citizens’ reflection on these spaces.
