The perception of a modern city

The perception of a modern city
At the beginning of the 20th century new art styles started to form such as art Nouveau, functionalism, cubism and more Avantgart styles etc. I was interested in how the Artist viewed the development of industrialisation.
Tools used : Acrylic paint, brush, A4 paper
Painting n.1
This painting was created in 1911 by Juan Gris. The artwork shows the rooftops of Paris. We can see shapes resembling modern buildings forming between buildings that adopt older styles.
 Painting n.2
Created by a Russian/ American artist named Louis Lozowick. The painting depicts what seems to be a industrial factory somewhere in the USSR. The colours also point this by being quite dark with the exception of red that represents the aggressiveness of the Soviet Union.

Painting n.3
Paul klee’s art work called the city was painted in 1940. The painting in my opinion displays the most modern view of the city out of the three presented. The tightly place geometric shapes remind me of a abundance of skyscrapers.
