What's already out there:
After looking at many similar apps that track calories, steps, food, water intake, etc. I found that although there are many, personally, there are few that have a good interface and are easy and simple to navigate. Still, they inspired and influenced what to do and not to do with my own design.
Personas
These personas all are interested in organizing their food intake, calories and other health data but each with a particular goal and need. I feel that my design can fit the needs with these three different profiles.
User Flow
With the task, the user will begin by opening the app and immediately be welcomed and introduced with the Home Screen. They will then choose one of two ways to add what they ate for lunch and the amount. Lastly, receive a review summary of the total calories from their meal.
Task Flow
Although the task is simple, designing a task flow helped to visualize how one would go though the app and if the flow fits with the design. It consists of either choosing to log calories straight from the home screen or from the log screen and choosing the time of day of the meal, the food items and their quantities and how many calories they contain based on the quantity.
Sketches
I sketched different conventions and styles for my app to look at the possibilities of what would work and look best. I also strived to communicate the success the user will be able to complete through navigation and understanding of the design.
