Cyclocross frame resurrection (Złomek/Płomek)
So long time ago I bought alu cyclocross frame. It was super cheap, without fork and painted black. After some reserch and googling I found that it was propably a ridley crossbow. It was my first cyclocross frame, which I raced for two seasons
Then I used it as a bikepacking bike and a commuter.
Swaped shimano to sram just because why not?
After that I treated it as a training machine. Until one day while hardcore training session was going on something snaps. I quickly found that it was my frame.
So everyone told me that it is not posible or at least not economically justified to repair it. I leaved it in the basement, just because I don't like throwing stuff that  am used to. Then after some time I accidentaly came with an idea how to fix this frame with non convencional methodology.
I don't have background in welding aluminium, so that was not an option. But I know thing about composites, so I thought that maybe this is the case to try composite repair. Soo I started with making a carboard template for dropouts and then I machined them form aluminium.
At that time I was also starting my framebuilding journey so that was a good occasion to try my freshly made jig.
I cut slots in chainstays and seatstays for dropouts and glued them into frame with epoxy glue. Then isolated everything with fiberglass and reinforced with carbon fiber.
Yellow electrical tape was used to compress everything together. I also strip paint with chemical paint remover.

The deal was that if the frame will last the whole season of comuting I will paint it in some fancy manner. To add more emotion I also tested seatpost that I made myslef for this frame.
Yes, you are right. This is green carbon fiber. I bought it from China, but it is only a first layer, I didin't even count it when I was designing layup for it.
After riding it for a year or so it was time to paint it. I have expirience in painting rc car lexan bodies, so that was what inspired me. I primed it and designed color shade in CAD.
Came up niiiice, especialy it is my first painted frame. So now you know not only my swag, but my story as well xd
Well, now you will probably ask about the fork. I planned to just paint it white, but I was painting it on friday afternoon and I got a little carried away xd. The idea behind it was that it will look as it is burned.
Quite happy with the result, If I had time, I would love to repair and paint some more frames.
