Statement Ring

This project questioned people about what prompted them to purchase jewelry. Aesthetic quality? The expensive looking? Or the vanity from brands? My work challenged the general notion of preciousness and luxury.
 
I created a series of three rings, which had the same forms, but set with huge cabochons made by both precious and non-precious materials, and spray-painted with black, white and gold to cover the original material. They were packed in three ring boxes and tagged with the same price. The idea is to captivate people to ignore the actual material and only focus on the superficial looking
