MAMBO Museum of Modern Art of Bogota

For more than 50 years, the Museum of Modern Art of Bogotá has been at the center of artistic and cultural manifestations in Bogota, Colombia. For 2020 they wanted to renew its identity, to continue on its path of being a benchmark museum.

The identity renewal project was carried out by rescuing the history of the museum, using as a reference the symbol of the bow tie designed by David Consuegra in 1963. We thought of an identity that would allow a robust and flexible graphic system for the contents of the different areas and programming of the museum.
The identity was thought to be flexible enough to allow different graphic expressions for each museum area; The MAMBO store, MAMBO viajero, Red MAMBO, amongst others.

The MAMBO store celebrates art made into design, with a variety of local brands and specially designed objects inspired by each exhibition, art meant for you to take home.
MAMBO Viajero is part of the museums educational program. It is a platform for the museum to reach Bogota's district schools through traveling art, from a cargo truck with exhibitions to an online/offline app with art history educational material.
One of the goals of the redesign was to give the museum a design tool-kit that allows the creation of different graphic identities within the same visual system, meant for special events and exhibits.
