The ravens are reference to the famous poem. The parchment bears the poem itself on it. The glass of wine is a reference to Edgar Allan Poe's alcohol addiction. The bended ground in the back is a sign of the vision of an alcohol addict. The raven which perched on the top of the skull is a reference how the poet's thoughts were taken over by 'The Raven'.
