Edgar Alacan's profile

The Gulfstream Aerospace G550

Edgar Alacan built the private jet charter startup Jets.com from the ground up, growing it into a company with $40 million in yearly revenue. One of the aircraft available for charter through Edgar Alacan and Jets.com is the Gulfstream Aerospace G550, which the company describes as “the cream of the crop.”

The Gulfstream Aerospace G550 has an impressive pedigree, evolving from the popular GIV GV and model lines dating back to 1996. The Gulfstream G550 debuted in 2003 and has become an in-demand aircraft charter model in the heavy jet, large cabin, and ultra-long-haul categories.

Boasting a range of nearly 7,000 nautical miles with four passengers on board, the G550 is built for intercontinental travel in a lavishly comfortable environment. It offers a number of improvements over the Gulfstream aircraft that came before it. Its advanced mechanics and avionics (a mixture of aviation and electronics) give the aircraft exceptional flight efficiency and airfield performance. The cost of a new Gulfstream Aerospace G550 currently hovers around $62 million.
