DEGREE PROJECT
The feeling called hopelessness:
Wingless bird,
Plucked raven of my soul
Scavenger of all that is good
Hopes and dreams collector
Doubts swelling in to self-pity
Questioner of the true possibility thief.
In today’s world, nothing can exist in this purest form. It’s a materialistic world. Power and authority are considered gems and half this world has turned money minded and therefore there are so many who feel let down and shattered. They feel suffocated  and trapped. Bogged down by all these forces, one starts to doubt him/herself, starting to feel hopeless. And after a lot of suffering comes a point where one wants to break free. Breaking free is about celebrating yourself, its about breaking the self made norms and rising above the materialistic world. Its about having faith I what you believe in. Its about liberation.
A BARELY BREATHING STORY:
“The world is too heavy for a feather falling so quickly.” The concept revolves around this one single thought that says it all. It’s about being bogged on by the materialistic world, feeling hopeless and numb and about how nothing can exist in its purest form. Its about liberating oneself from all of this, breaking the self made norms and rising above it all. Its about celebrating oneself and living up to what you believe in.
Collection: A line up of 6 garments, elegant and dreamlike. Use of frosty colors such as muted shades of pink, citron and white. Use of materials like fur, curled fur, fleece, felt and organza.
MOTIF EXPLORATION
The motifs are amalgamation of a web and the snow flake. The web describing the feeling of being trapped, helpless and feeling hopeless. It talks about struggle that goes in breaking free.
The snow flake though, it’s the part that come after breaking free. Every snowflake is unique and so are we, standing up to what we believe in. Not being afraid. Its considered to come from the heaven, its light and not affected by the world. It’s a form of water and thus considered pure. It talks about liberation.

Plenty of rope: independence, freedom, latitude, to be free. When you’re tied with a small rope, you’re restricted. Plenty of rope signifies that you might be tied but there’s plenty of rope to fly whenever and wherever you want to. The garments narrate a story of how a bird's life is perceived by the humans and what is actually is. The embroidery talking about the human perspective where everything is colourful and melodious achieved using the ribbon embroidery and stump work technique where as the silhouettes talk about repetition, struggle and handwork. But in the end, its all about freedom.

SOUND OF HANDLOOMS - A DELUSION

Welcome to the land of Chanderi!
Here the morning wakes you up with the sounds unheard of before. You step out and the breeze brings the subtle hypnotic notes to your ears. It’s the sound of music, serene and rhythmic, making its way across the rustic locales. You start walking towards the source from which this melody seems to emanate, envisioning an instrument being played.
But, what your eyes rest upon is not a musical instrument but a handloom working diligently, creating a work of art which is unparalleled across Indian lands.
This delusion wears off to reveal the meticulous effort that goes into crafting the famed Chanderi textile, renowned across the world. The craftsmen set to work when the first rays of sun kiss the windowsills and methodically wrap up a hard day's work with the parting rays waving goodbye.
This is the land of Chanderi which believes in projecting a serene and sublime perspective to the world subtly hiding the sweat and toil that goes into creating world class fabric that leading designers swear by.
