Materials are: sterling silver, trillion cabochon cut aquamarine, and a trianglular slice of agate, which I cut and polished myself. Although the chain is purchesed, I din't quite like the lobster clasp it came with so I designed and made my own toggle clasp.

future horizons are the myths of present day

Throughout the history of mankind, jewellery has been often connected with mythology and traditional folklore. Since precious metals were difficult to obtain, gold became synonymous with sunlight, silver with moonlight, all the while minerals and crystals assumed mystical properties. Jewellery, which was produced by our ancestors, was reserved for the occasional or ceremonial use by the elite. Today we may discard the legends and rituals of yesteryear, however we still hold jewellery in high regard, and we continue to be captivated by story-telling. I believe that science fiction, and speculations of what could be, are the myth of our present day, therefore it is only natural for me to connect modern jewellery with this cultural and literary phenomenon.

Having never made jewellery prior to September of last year, I felt like a young kid, stepping into the classroom for the first time, trying to learn the basics of a new subject. This feeling lead me to think back to my actual childhood, and revisit the dreams and fantasies I once held dear. I have always been drawn to the night sky and its stars, and, being a story-telling enthusiast, the tales which spoke of uncharted worlds and unexplored planets used to catch my attention most. The possibilities here are endless and my imagination, as an adult artist, was ignited once again. In order to create these pieces of jewellery, I drew my inspiration from those childhood dreams, and from the influence of science fiction.

The jewellery collection is here to kindle an emotional response, it is about a feeling and not about a specific plot. I do believe these jewellery pieces can tell stories, however the stories are elusive and intangible, like mythological symbols, and it is up to the viewer, or the wearer, to decide what they mean.
