El fuego de la quimera
Durante el año 2021, trabajé bajo contratación de la autora emergente Luciana Ferrari, para ilustrar su poemario El fuego de la quimera. Me propuso realizar cinco ilustraciones en blanco y negro que acompañasen los cinco capítulos del libro, dándome total libertad sobre el resultado final.
Trabajé combinando las técnicas de acuarela y collage, creando composiciones que llegan a tener volumen, fotografiándolas luego mi compañera Romina García, siendo iluminadas con diversos focos.
Busqué que las ilustraciones contasen una historia independiente de los poemas, pero que los acompañe en sentimiento. Así, surge el encuentro entre una quimera y una bruja, que precipitan la creación de una criatura que no es humana ni monstruo, sino que se compone de partes de ambas.
During the year 2021, I worked under the commission of the Uruguayan author Luciana Ferrari, to illustrate her collection of poems "El fuego de la qimera". She proposed that I make five black-and-white illustrations to go with the five chapters of the book, giving me total freedom over the final result.
I combined the techniques of watercolor and collage, creating compositions that have volume. Later, my partner Romina Garcia, photographed them being illuminated with different lightspots.
I wanted the illustrations to tell a story independently of the poems but to accompany them in feeling. Thus, the encounter between a chimera and a witch arises, which precipitates the creation of a creature that is neither human nor monster but is made up of parts of both.
El libro fue publicado por DeVuelo en 2022, y aunque no me contrataron para ilustrar la tapa, yo propuse algunos borradores.
The book was published in 2022 by DeVuelo, and even though I was not commissioned to design the cover, I still proposed some sketches.
