2011 - Mundomar IxD Optimisation
In late May 2011 I was commissioned this project by a relevant animal park located in Benidorm, Spain. The previous site suffered from severe SEO pitholes so it was required to refactor a remarkable part of the clientside code from scratch. This gave me the opportunity to introduce several improvements in the way interaction with the end user had been handled so far.

Given the time contraints this project exposed I decided to take advantage of standards-compliant frameworks  such as HTML5 Boilerplate or ExpressionEngine that turned out into big timesavers in order to deliver the project on time.

After refactoring the frontend code and delivering the new functionalities I stepped off the project in order to assume my new responsabilities as UX Lead at PornTube.com. This site continued its evolution and the current live site does not implement most of the funcionalities showcased here. These screenshots serve as a good sample of smart interaction and navigation solutions applied to large-scale multilingual portals with endless combinations of browsing paths and collapsible menus serving massive amounts of links.
The homepage includes a show-reel sliding promotions and announcements. The widget lets the user switch from a photo-slideshow to a video window.
The homepage lets the user browse through all the animal areas by means of a modal window
Professional users may login through contextual authentication forms always available at the top header.
The global nav bar takes advantage of rich Google fonts being accessible and good-looking at the same time.
The entire site click-through rate has been reduced to its minimum, enclosing all secondary links into pop-up cached menus.
Call 2 action buttons and links are available to maximise conversion rates.
A smart combination of jQuery waypoints plugin and CSS3 allows the user to have the nav bar links always available on top as a companion widget as she scrolls down the page, easing the navigation experience (and conversion rate).
More Google Web Fonts are used throughout the interface real estate, aiming always to deliver a clear and clean browsing experience.
All javascript-dependatn widgets degrade gracefully anytime the system detects that Javascript is disabled.
Modal tooltips provide help right on the spot
Ultimately, a modal window includes further information about the site credits and honours all who have provided inspiration and help to this project.
