MANY STEPS OF A MODELER (1st Year)

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:  One model taken from thirty-two various modelers, from four techniques (weave, pleat, perforate and overlap) and one principle (contrast).  With no clear reasoning or explanation, the modelers were free to become what ever came to mind. Then taking the individual modelers and looking at them more closely to what would change if aggregation, proportion, pattern, and rhythm or repletion were applied to a single modeler. Expanding off the woven piece, the flow and connections became most appealing and was the modeler taken deeper. The design now had to have an orientation and use applied in the final scaled model. The orientation started and stayed vertical for the design, while the use fluctuated between sleeping and reading. The design came from a curtain to the final, a bed canopy. Taking the modelers, stranding them together, and draping them over the frame creating an enclosure. While the openness of the weaves allows minimal light and astonishing shadows.

USER PROFILE: The design focused towards those in need of a place to sleep during a time of the bright sun or moon. Large enough for more than one person and tall enough for a seven foot person.
