Let's go surfing...
Every once in a while I'm reminded why I'm still enamoured with photography.
The Director of Cultural Affairs in the Columbian Foreign Ministry, Luis Armando Soto commissioned me to document a delegation of young Columbian surfers on tour in Australia. Their Sports Diplomacy program focuses on children in areas of the country vulnerable to violence and/or crime and aims to give them the chance to visit other countries and see opportunities that can come out of sport, music or dance.
The children, aged between 11 - 17 years old come from two quite diverse regions in Columbia. One group from the Pacific Ocean, the other from the Carribean. None of them had ever travelled outside Columbia before.

First stop Bondi, new wetsuits and surf lessons...
Then a trip up the coast to Toowoon Bay to learn all about Surf Life Saving...
Later, more surfing and a visit to the HIF NSW Open State Titles for a meet n greet..
