A work in progress: Helemaal PRIMA.
Helemaal PRIMA is a small series of short comics I'm making as part of a school assignment where we got assigned random audiences and then had to research them and make a product to help them with an issue they experience.
I got assigned businessmen.
The first step here was of course to do research and see if I could contact any businessmen via my mom's work. I managed to get a fair bit of information about their interests which I intended to incorporate into my own product along with the kind of issues they face, the main one being mental health and burnout. I chose to primarily zero in on a surprising shared interest in comics and the issue of men struggling to handle their mental health.
As part of my research I made a mood- and style board along with gathering some references for my own work.
Once my research phase was over, I got to work on concepts. My first idea was to make a short animation but due to time constraints I chose to drop it along with my idea of making a mixed 2D and 3D art piece. I ended up choosing to make a short comic series.
I originally considered making it in the form of a web page functioning as a collection of short comics but ended up also doing some experimenting with making covers for a possible printed version. Alongside that I also made concepts for some main characters and a short test comic to test out the flow of it.
I then made the final cover, having settled to make a printed final, along with making the first two comics that would appear in it. I sadly ended up getting really sick during the last week and a half of the project and wasn’t able to finish more than this. I’ll probably be looking to continue work on it afterwards anyways though as I’ve really enjoyed working on comics again.

Did my planning work out?
No. I didn’t manage to hit my first milestone on the day I wanted and never managed to do my last as I got sick

How am I going to take on my next project?
Set more realistic deadlines for myself so I don’t need to edit my planning
What kind of problems did I experience during the project?
I gave myself too much work to do in the little time I had meaning I couldn’t finish my final product to the extent I would have liked, especially with me getting sick
How did I handle this?
I made sure the work I had finished looked good and was put together well and handed in what I had
What learning points can I get from this?
I should make sure I don’t get too ambitious on my projects to make sure I can actually have a fully finished product by the end of it.
What does this project add to my portfolio?
Comic art. I’ve been wanting to get back into making comics for a while but since I haven’t made any recently my portfolio was lacking in that department.
