Branding: Riverkids Project

Cambodia is globally known as a source, transit and destination country for human trafficking and child sex. It is a place where mothers sell their own daughters to child traffickers, who supply them to brothels locally and across
the country.

Riverids works with children and families in danger of abuse and trafficking in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. We identify children at high risk because of extreme poverty, drug abuse, alcoholism, gambling and child abuse. We provide social services to find out what they need and find solutions to keep their children safe.

Mission
i. To prevent the sale and exploitation of children
ii. To find non-exploitative labour alternatives for youths and families
iii. To transform families and communities as low-risk for child trafficking and exploitation

Programs and Services
Riverkids provides four main services namely:
i. Education
ii. Health
iii. Social Services
iv. Work and Income

In this project, I rebranded Riverkids with a new logo for the organization on a voluntary basis. All designs were donated after a span of 3 months.

(May 2014)

Initial Logo
The organization likes the hand-drawn style to their logo. This smiling flower represents hope and their mission of bringing a brighter future to the children who are in their programme, that they too, will bloom like a flower in the near future, and not be sold for cash.
New Logo
Adopting the similar flower, I improved the logo by adding a river (that links closely to their name, riverkids), where the flower acts like a rising sun, which represents hope and new beginnings. The colours chosen are light orange, which represents hope. and a bright turquoise colour for the river.
