Giga Mapping Workshop

GIGA MAPPING WORKSHOP
As Master student in Product Design at the university of Oslomet, I voluntarily took the opportunity to educate the third year Bachelor degree students in Product Design about Giga Mapping. Giga Mapping is a tool used to visualize complex systems and their relations.

The first day of the workshop, the students learned what giga mapping is, what it is used for and how to map out giga maps.
After some theory and explanation the students did small exercises to get a first taste of what giga mapping entails. During the exercises I was present for guidance where needed.

On the second day a short recapitulation was presented on what the students learned the previous day and now it was their chance to apply this knowledge to their own project topics.

The main challenge as the moderator of this workshop was to explain complex terms and theory in easily understandable chunks of knowledge. I also experienced that it was better to keep explanations short and concise.

I enjoyed the experience of being the teacher, transferring knowledge over to others and seeing the value of that knowledge bear its fruits.
