[ Costume design ]
Amman based dance company Studio 8 is not only focusing on theatrical dance, AKA performance or concert dance, which is intended primarily as a spectacle, usually a performance upon a stage by virtuoso dancers. It is also constantly trying out new techniques that are related to dance in all its divisions including puppeteering, on stage art installations, kinetic art, experimental music and unconventional theatrical costumes as well as producing and directing short films.
For this project, 3 sets of origami inspired costumes are designed through folding and sculpting techniques.
[ The process ]
More than 300 hours cutting, curling, pleating and manipulating paper and Polyethylene fiber into tops, shoulder pieces, jewelries for 12 actors and actresses.
[ The musical ]
The musical was staged from 3 December 2013 at Concord Theater, Amman, Jordan.
