Sophomore Portfolio 2014

A DESIGN JOURNEY
My sophomore portfolio was the first showcase of work from my design degree at SVA. It's especially meaningful to me because it shows not only my work, but also my story. Growing up in Uzbekistan the idea of becoming a designer was unreal. It's not something I ever dreamed of, and so coming to New York I had a huge revelation of my passion for art. Therefore my portfolio had a theme, it was my journey that got me to where I am today and my work which made my parents believe in me. My destination was rewarding, but my journey was what made everything worth while.

This portfolio was also a huge lesson learned. It taught me so much about deadlines, production and craft. Everything here was made by hand: the books were binded and the suicase box was constructed. The stickers on the suitcase were all inspired by the projects in my book.
Passports: A story between two worlds, seperated by the ocean. The idea was to have two books - one that focused on my design and advertising work, while the other (an actual size of a passport) focused on my drawing work. My case also included a "boarding pass" that worked as a business card that one can detach from the pass.
