AJRAKH x block print

The uniquely modern trend of glitch art and prints has by now infiltrated
almost every creative outlet in some way or another. From datamoshing
in video to spawning an entire genre of fashion and clothes, this so-called
“aesthetic of failure” makes prints out of errors. Indian traditional textiles
is completely opposite of all this. The story of textiles in India is one of the
oldest in the world.
My inspiration came as a fusion of aesthetically correct, structured and
geometric block print and combining and bring it into a disordered or
confusing state. Using the same blocks of Ajrakh bur in a different manner,
overlayering of blocks. My idea is to fuse one of the oldest block prints
with a thoroughly modern style and creating a new textile print.
