The Rotary Youth Exchange Program

Bhenoy “Ben” Dembla is a Miami Beach, Florida-based finance professional working in private equity. He has prior experience as a project engineer with AutoDynamics and ABB-Simcon. Beyond his professional endeavors, Ben Dembla supports a variety of nonprofit organizations and has hosted students through the Rotary International Youth Exchange program.

The Rotary International Youth Exchange program is for students from the ages of 15-19 who want to build their leadership skills and experience new cultures. Exchanges typically last an entire academic year, during which time students attend school and stay with host families. Rotary also organizes short-term exchanges, structured as tours or camps, outside the school year.

In addition to experiencing new cultures, exchange students build lifelong friendships and become global citizens. More than 5,300 Rotary clubs from 68 countries participated in the program during the 2019-20 academic year. A total of 13,062 host families took in 8,183 exchange students, while more than 30,000 volunteers helped organize the program and facilitate exchange opportunities. Thirty-eight percent of all exchanges occurred in Europe.
