A Bloody Tribute

Artist Statement

The integration of memory into the sense of self is the primary focus in my body of work. Presenting intentionally falsified recollections provides a certain degree of control. Concealing information becomes an important reference to the functions of the brain, including the maintenance of memory. The remnants of past iterations are discernible, yet obscured.

There is a ritualistic quality to my approach. I have a specific set of rules and procedures that I create for myself that involve drawing repetitive patterns while maintaining variety. These ritualistic processes can become more important than the final pieces themselves. My work is borderline obsessive and protective at lengths, keeping the delicacy and true nature of each piece in tact.
