Generative design and generation of a typeface including a series of posters by the use of generative design elements. The innovation content consists in the visualization of the characteristics of various planets by means of generative design based on acoustic signals. This work is the result of a collaboration of Carmen Graf and Kevin May. If you look into the night sky you can see thousands of twinkling stars. The stars in the sky shine like diamonds. The universe: A vacuum in which humans cannot breathe, where is nothing but silence. Not quite right: Even planets produce sounds. Scientist try to explain what seems to be unbelievable for us: Several space probes, e.g. “Voyager1”, recorded the electromagnetic radiation of the planets and translated it into acoustic signals. “Sound of Planets” gives a visual answer to the question how planets differ acoustically. The series of posters helps the observer to discern that there are perceptible differences in acoustic signals of different planets. It’s less important whether a planet is loud or quiet here but it’s about portraying the real existing differences between planets which seem to be so similar to us. For the analysis four audio-records of the “Voyager1” were brought in. Besides parameters for the generative design of the typeface were determined. Read Less
