Pierced Lampshade

Lamp design for Model and Prototyping.  The process has many steps from start to finish.  First, a 5/4" plank of wood was planed and cut to equal sized segments.  They were glued together with a C-clamp setup.  Then the new block was turned on the wood lathe to get its final form.  To get the plastic form, it was vacuum formed.  The two halves were joined using Weld-On.  The surface was then cleaned and the holes were pierced at this time too.  Then the base coat of black primer was applied followed by a white color coat.  To finish the paint job, a wet application of clear top coat was used to get a glossy finish.  The cord and socket are part of a kit from World Market.
