I have become extremely obsessed with Japanese Macaques recently. So I thought i'd post some of my progression here with a character I created. I have a bigger piece planned, but I really like the guy at the bottom.
This was one of a few studies I did before actually getting started. I think it's really important to get some observational studies done first.
This was a quick piece I did to get an idea of textures, style and colour.
This was a final sketch for one of my Macaque characters. The previous image really helped me refine the shapes and character of this guy.
Final result. Taking everything into account I've ended up with a result i'm really happy with, there will be plenty more of these fella's soon!
